Development and Skills Building

Opportunity to Learn and Grow as Leaders

OMEA helps our students recognize and grow their leadership capabilities through service learning programs, conferences, workshops and programs that emphasize how to build and nurture relationships with students, faculty and staff. The skills learned in these environments are meant to engender greater opportunities and success for our students in their professional lives during school breaks and after graduation.

Students enhance their educational development and increase their leadership skills by participating in:

  • Mentoring opportunities with peers, faculty and staff
  • Internships with campus administrative offices
  • Intra- and cross-cultural conversations with other students
  • Service learning projects during the summer
  • Outreach to non-profit organizations in the greater Ithaca area
  • Leadership and educational conferences
  • Forums, seminars and skills-building workshops
