Counseling and Advising
Staying Motivated and Healthy
Issues arise at home, at school, at work, and can be due to any number of factors. We don't always have the means to handle everything by ourselves and in these cases, can feel as though things have become unbalanced or unmanageable. OMEA is here to help.
We offer our students access to counseling on personal matters through a number of on-campus support services. We'll help you figure out the best route for your situation, and set up whatever meetings or appointments you need to get you back on the road to a more balanced life. Counseling on academic matters is offered in conjunction with designated academic advisors.
Gannett is the University's main health center, overseeing all types of care. The website is a trove of information for everyone in our community on everything from flu shots, to hazing, to stress, to healthy eating, and so much more. Find insurance information, schedule appointments, visit the myGannett information portal or just peruse the site to familiarize yourself with all the help that is available should you need it in the future.
Counseling and Pshycological Services (CAPS)
CAPS is the University's center for all things relating to psychological health and well being. Each year, more and more students avail themselves of the CAPS services, currently providing over 20,000 appointments to all kinds of students across the campus community. Their site is filled with information as well as important numbers and contacts should an urgent situation arise.
Empathy, Assistance and Referral System (EARS)
EARS functions as you might expect with a name such as that: the counselors are there to listen, first and foremost. Any member of the Cornell community is welcome to drop in or call EARS to speak about a problem. Sometimes, we just need someone to listen, and this is the service EARS provides. If an issue seems likely to be relieved or benefitted by ongoing counseling, the EARS staff will help refer to an outside service provider. EARS also provides training for those members of the community who wish to become counselors.
