Prospective Students

An Opportunity to Attend Cornell

Cornell University is unlike most other institutions of higher education in New York State in that it is both a private and a public institution - some of our colleges are considered state schools, as part of our land grant charter, and some of the colleges are private. Because we have the distinction of being both private and public, Cornell is able to offer both public and private school opportunity programs for our students through OMEA: the Arthur O. Eve Higher Educational Opportunity Program (HEOP) and the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP).

Both of these programs are designed to assist New York State residents who show the potential to be successful in a college career, but do not otherwise have the means or academic background to be accepted via a standard university admissions process.

To learn more about the program please go to About H/EOP and What is Entailed in the Program.
