CSTEP/CPOP
Cornell University’s Collegiate Science & Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) is an undergraduate scholars program open to New York State residents from all backgrounds, and sponsored by the New York State Department of Education. The purpose of the program is to strengthen students’ success rates in preparing for professional licensure and careers in medicine, law, business, education, science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), and health.
Though CSTEP is only open to New York State residents, the Cornell Professional Opportunities Program (CPOP), a mirror program of CSTEP, is open to non-New York State residents.
As a CSTEP/CPOP student, you will be challenged to develop yourself academically and professionally through participation in various programs and activities designed to further your professional development. Participants share invaluable social interaction and congenial support with fellow students who are among Cornell University's best and brightest scholars. Your involvement will include but is not limited to:
- Student Professional Organizations
Maintaining membership in a club or group of good standing on campus will give you opportunities to contribute to your field of interest on campus, while also helping you to expand your knowledge/skills as a potential professional. - Work Study and/or Independent Research
Work study and research opportunities can afford you real-life experience to pursue tangible short term work goals while gaining valuable experience in your chosen field. - Externships and Internships
Externship and internship opportunities provide the opportunity for hands-on experience at ground level in your particular career field, helping to facilitate your development as a pre-professional, and preparing you for life after Cornell.
